Automatic powder coating system in Turin
La powder coating It is a type of technology used mainly for metal surfaces including: steel, stainless steel, Corten, aluminum, etc.
This type of process is divided into several phases, starting from preparation and ending with the application of the varnish to the surface of the object.
What is powder coating?
It is a type of surface coating, which uses colored powders of different colors, based on resins, mixed using air located inside the electrostatic gun.
Processing steps for the automatic powder coating system in Turin.
The processing of this type of technology has five different phases:
- Preparation of the painting system
- Placing the products on the assembly line
- Preparing powder for electrostatic guns
- Quality check
- Packaging on special pallets
The first phase includes the total preparation of the painting system.
The staff must ensure that the machinery does not present any anomalies, managing only the path of the painted objects.
The artifact, after being hung on the assembly line, will be transported to a tunnel called washing center, which will have the aim of eliminating all impurities through a phosphating product that will remove the thickest dirt and grease and any traces of light oxidation.
This chemical compound, in addition to removing degrease, will make the surface rougher for a better hold of the paint.
Once this phase is completed, the metal piece will be ready to be transported inside a drying oven.
Painting Booth:
Once the object is dry, it will enter the paint booth, where the paint will be applied to it part of moving guns.
This type of phase requires the use of tools called electrostatic guns, which combine air and dust creating the “electrostatic phenomenon” that will allow the dust to adhere to the painted material.
Quality check:
Once the work has been completed by the painting booth, the person in charge will have to carry out a quality control on each individual piece, and where required repaint it.
Once this procedure is completed, the worked sheet metal will be ready to enter the last cabin inside the powder coating plant, where the painted pieces will go into an oven equipped with doors with a temperature of approximately 180° inside, which will have the function of polymerising, that is, drying and allow the paint to set for the necessary time.
Once this phase is completed, the worker will have to complete the manufacturing process by removing the painted pieces from the motorized chain and then placing them on special pallets ready to be packaged.
Features for the automatic powder coating system in Turin
The main feature of powder coating is the lack of solvent within the composition itself. It should be specified that mixtures of this type are based on organic components, therefore less harmful than liquid paints which contain solvents.
Powder coatings, moreover, guarantee an optimal final result, not only from a mechanical point of view, but also from an environmental point of view, being resistant to atmospheric agents and corrosion.
The painting system leads to a paint dispersion of 2%, recovering much of the paint located on the base of the painting plant.
This leads to continuous reuse of the paint itself, resulting in greater economic savings, making it excellent for medium and large batch production.
