Pipe Bending

Tube bending is a fundamental metalworking process that allows tubes and profiles to be given a defined and repeatable bending radius. Tube bending is a cold process based on controlled plastic deformation. The tube is shaped using three parallel rollers arranged in a triangle: adjusting the central roller achieves the desired radius.

The process allows for the bending of round, square, or rectangular tubes and profiles while maintaining precise control over the final shape. CNC control ensures continuity from one piece to the next and allows for single bends, multiple sequences, and complex geometries, even with variable thicknesses.

CNC bending allows you to handle different materials, achieve consistent radii, create complex curves and produce small or large series uniformly.

In addition to standard bending, Metal.Car. also offers variable radius bending, an advanced process that allows for multiple radii within the same tube. It's an ideal solution for architectural structures, street furniture, design components, and industrial tubing that require advanced precision and geometric continuity.

Variable radius bending is performed using pipe benders equipped with:

• walrus for stable locking of the tube

• spindle to support the inside during bending

• sled for the controlled movement of the piece

One of the most delicate aspects of the process is managing the intrados, the inner part of the curve where stresses are concentrated. Applying the correct parameters allows you to avoid irregularities, crushing, or unwanted deformations, ensuring a perfect and uniform curvature.
