• Helical: A helical staircase is one with the same layout as a spiral staircase but with a central supporting structure that follows the shape of a propeller. Unlike the spiral staircase, the helical staircase is wider, making it more stable. It represents an evolution of the spiral staircase, but with more sinuous lines and a more contemporary design. It is also called a "space-saving" staircase due to its smaller footprint within the home.

 

• Overhang: Cantilevered stairs, also known as wall-mounted, suspended, freestanding, or wall-mounted, are simply structures that require the support of a wall for assembly.
